The goal with this direction was to showcase MLB’s biggest and brightest stars of the game | Shohei Ohtani (Dodgers) | Fernando Tatis Jr. (San Diego Padres) | Aaron Judge (New York Yankees)

The cities they represent are showcased behind each player highlighting recognizable elements and structures that are reminiscent of each city/state.

The field of corn pays homage to the movie Field of Dreams, where the players walk through the field to play the game they love. The players walking from their cities through the corn fields to battle it out and compete for the World Series.

Use of Generative AI

The athletes used in this visual were created using Generative AI (Google Gemini and Chat GPT). Working in tandem with AI, I would act as the Photography Director working with AI to create the specific poses, lighting, details, and other features to achieve the greatest realism and visually striking details to create the vision.

The key to getting really accurate and detailed generations is all in the prompting and the image you feed it. When prompting the systems, you will need to be very specific, extremely detailed, and know what the goal of the generation is. The system needs the Art Director/Photography Director. Be that! Know about lighting set ups, key light placements, the visual you are trying to achieve. The higher the resolution image you provide the better, also try and find an image that shows majority of the face so it is more accurate.

Here is the prompt I used to develop the look and visual of Fernando Tatis Jr. and replicated across the other players:

Prompt:

Take the image of the attached man and have him standing in a photography studio environment, hyper detailed and realistic vertical portrait image with dramatic and cinematic lighting where its shows full body from the feet up. The man is wearing a white baseball jersey with thin brown vertical stripes and the word PADRES arched in brown with brown/gold outline across the chest brown/gold piping on the ends of the arm sleeves and the collar. He is wearing a brown baseball helmet with the logo SD in gold on the front of the helmet. He is wearing white baseball pants with thin brown vertical stripes. Lower the camera angle so it is shooting upward at him. Have the man facing the camera walking towards it with the baseball bat resting across his shoulders looking at the camera. He is also wearing gold/white nike baseball cleats too. Include visible pores, skin texture, natural imperfections, micro-details and pore texture, add a light reflection shine in the eyes and make them look slightly and naturally wet, flyaway hairs, baby hairs catching light, stray strands at hairline, subsurface scattering, subtle light rim on edges.

Now it may take a few attempts and generations to achieve the final look but the more you practice and give the systems detailed information and accurate descriptions, it does a really great job putting the rest together.
